JAZZ DANCE
"Jazz Dance" is as old as jazz itself; people have been tapping their feet to jazz from the early 1900's in New Orleans to the modern sweaty jazz clubs that exist in London today. It's a term that encapsulates the vibe that was created from off beat African rhythms, coupled with a gritty American ethos that has kept dancers on step for over two centuries.
"Jazz Dance" as a modern genre has been infecting dance floors since Gilles Peterson helmed a residency at the legendary Dingwalls club. Dingwalls marks the beginning; a place where jazz dancers dressed to the nines in suits, hats and spats got down to classics by Herbie Hancock, Pharaoh Sanders, and Airto focusing on the experimental rhythmic tracks by these masters. This scene has influenced producers from Berlin to Tokyo, in the 90's it was Jazzanova and Rainer Truby who kept it alive and now in Tokyo it's the Soil and Pimp crew that is making waves. This design will appeal to all the jazz junkies, dance aficionados,
and anyone that loves the elements of the rhythmic pulse.
