Bring the Noise” is the classic track by Public Enemy that shook car speakers, dancefloors and turned hip-hop on it’s head. Punctuated by Chuck D’s deft lyrical delivery and the Bomb Squad’s impeccable production that made use of James Brown and industrial noise samples; it represents not only a milestone in hip-hop, but is widely recognized as one of the greatest songs of all time. It is rare that a song not only defines an era in music-- but also is a call to arms to other artists to elevate their game. And that ‘s exactly what Chuck D and Flavor Flav were saying with “It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold us Down”; it was about expanding hip hop consciousness through addressing society ills directly aka ‘Bring the Noise’.
