Curtis Mayfield was one smooth soul cat; multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger, and political and social commentator, his legacy in music is enormous. His self titled debut album is an undisputed classic that mixed his soul and funk sensibilities with bits of psychedelia and combined this with a larger and more encompassing social message. “Move On Up” is a song that features rolling latin percussion, surging string arrangements and Curtis’ voice as a call to arms for positivity and equality in a world that was going through the Vietnam War and the civil rights unrest. We here are massive fans of Curtis’ music and this shirt is dedicated to his influence and inspiration.
